Warm Contemporary Kitchen
This 1950s West Hills home had been remodeled in 1981, stripping the charm and detail from the original home. The kitchen was closed off from the rest of the home and had Euro-style laminate cabinets and countertops combined with a poorly functioning layout.
The clients wanted an open kitchen with an island that provided the space to prepare gourmet meals for friends and family. To create an open feeling and add more natural light, the kitchen ceiling was removed and vaulted to match the adjacent living room and skylights were added which flooded the room with sunlight. The old wall between the dining room and kitchen came down creating a connection between them. We were able to achieve a warm transitional remodel that combines a contemporary edge with a timeless design.
